My Revolution is Empowerment

My revolution is about empowerment,
but not just any empowerment
women’s empowerment.

We are beautiful.
We are graceful.
We are strong.
Yet, we are judged because of our character,
and told we don’t belong
Because we are not as tall,
or heavy, or strong.
We are told our very nature is wrong.

We feel underestimated and depressed.
We cry and feel like a hot mess.
We want power,
and we want presence.
We want to give a speech
and to be able to finish the sentence
without laughter or judgment.

We want to talk and to be acknowledged.
We want to be who we are,
and wear a dress
while still changing the world
without the impression to impress.

We are women, and we will be heard
because without us, the world is assured,
to go back, to slow down,
To lose a place in our very race.

We are women.
We are misplaced and misheard.
Yet with us, the future is bright and assured.
