Being the Oldest

Disagreements, arguments, miscommunications,

The crying, yelling, and whining

as we witness things we should not see as children.

“Can you do this? Can you do that? I want this and I want that!”

My head is pounding, the feeling of irritation.

Sibling, siblings, siblings, not one, not two, but six!

Many complications, but they have a purpose,

All having split personalities and their own unique character.

But my purpose is to protect them, being the oldest.

They’re my own flesh and blood,

From changing diapers to giving them life advice,

I am their backbone, their savior, their protector.

I care for them,

Even with our disagreements, arguments, and miscommunications.
